My first time … a perspective

Image

Last Tuesday was the first time I attended the annual CBCA’s Lady Cutler Dinner. I certainly didn’t know what to expect. Was it a ballroom function? Was it a fundraiser with silent auctions? Was it a mixer? And what kinds of people would attend?

To be honest, I was a little nervous. I knew we were having dinner and there would be some kind of award given, but really what was it all about?

So, my first time … at the Lady Cutler Dinner and Award Ceremony, and I had a BLAST!!

Chatting, socialising, the room full of people with the history of CBCA in their bones, meeting the stalwarts of the very field I’m so passionate about, celebrating Robyn Ewing‘s contribution to the world of children’s literature, a scrumptious meal, seeing new and upcoming writers who won the mentorship with Penguin Publishing senior editor Heather Curdie and author Nathan Luff, and being inspired by Libby Hathorn‘s rousing speech about loving to read.

So, I didn’t know what to expect. Had I known, I still would have been blown away by such a fun, and amazing evening.

Worth going again? You bet’cha. Don’t miss out next year is my advice!
